08/07 Skill balance update. What are your thoughts?
[Reclaim Essence] might be half interesting if used with [rejuvenation]/[agony] or other spirits but can't get too carried away with the spirits of course.
[Defiant Was Xinrae] looks nice because of the self prot but then you have to be nearby to get the full effect from it which I'm not too keen about.
[Consume Soul] looks like utter trash now. If I really wanted to kill someone else's minions/spirit, there's better ways to go about it.
[Xinrae's Weapon] is very interesting, kind of like Vengeful/remedy but with a prot. Going to have to cap this one tomorrow.

In PvE:
Use AP - and keep the spirits and get a VERY improved effect.
PvP:
It looks very interesting because of it's 5 sec recharge.
The problem still is the fact that you are activating the spirit for 3 to 5 secs.
Otherwise you could have some fun with something like Life or Shelter spam.

Can not be cast on others and the fact that it's 20% makes it bad.

It's life stealing.
With a 5 sec recharge.
On a class that currently functions superbly with just one line maxed.

Go Rt/E and bring glyph of sacrifice. Since it is an instant recharge anyway, it won't matter if the spirit is disabled or not.

Its a start, trying to give us some useful elites and options but i would prefer they would make a better attempt at fixing protective spirits so they are more useful in HM.
30 sec recharge on reclaim essence, it seems to be worse than ritual lord, soul twisting, ap. I want the spirits with ridiculous recharge/energy/cast times to last long enough to atleast complete their spellcast animation.
New xinrae's weapon is very interesting im using it instead of weapon of remedy for now atleast. Its got good e cost recharge and cast time.
Defiant was xinrae i dont see me ever using this at all. Giving up your elite and having to hold ashes just for 20% seems pretty weak.
A problem is they have buffed all the overpowered pve-only skills of other profs and ours are still as insignificant as before.

I'm well pleased with this update in general. I guess Anet realizes we're still a profession aside from Splinter/A-Rage nerfs. Moving two elite skills from Communing to Restoration is pretty laughable in itself--it's probably the final nail in the coffin.
Unfortunately, though, [Defiant was Xinrae] and [Reclaim Essence] seem pretty weak.
[Protective Was Kaolai] still outshines [Defiant was Xinrae] and [Reclaim Essence]'s lengthy recharge time absolutely kills it.
I'm looking forward to using [Xinrae's Weapon]...I can see it having a lot of potential. Some have been saying it's overpowered, but I disagree.
Also, I'm wondering if [consume soul]'s secondary effect is unlinked. 500+ life steal from a Flesh Golem, anyone?

Works on spells only.
What I don't get though is:
Reclaim Essence: functionality changed to: "All your Spirits die. If a Spirit dies in this way, you gain 5..20 Energy and all of your Binding Rituals are recharged."
And if you look at the the old description of RE is states that it has a 5 sec recharge.
When did it jump to 30!?!?

Exactly, that why I'm not very happy about this update (from a ritualist point of view).
Reclaim Essence looks like utter trash now. I simply have no idea how you can use it beneficially now. Maybe because I'm tired and cannot think straight.
Consume Soul is not something I'd use. Fun maybe if you run into a minion army. And let's not forget that it's in spawning weakness. So it's bad anyway.
The other too, well....the weapon spell is interesting, but the item spell isn't all that great with like Upier said the 20%.
I was hoping for some better changes (communing spirits, spawning power) and maybe some other elites (clamour of souls for example)
p.s. I think communing has 3 elites now, lol

I fully intend on replacing [Offering of Spirit] on my heroes with [Xinrae's Weapon] to see how well it works. Looking forward to trying it myself.
Loving the idea of [Consume Soul]. The ability to use it on Foes as well as using it to destroy their summoned creatures sounds great!

Yeah but if you're using it on anything but a summoned creature, [necrosis]>[Consume Soul] (in my opinion). If you're wanting to kill minions, [Signet of Creation]>[Consume Soul].

I thought of this:

as an alternative to

assuming 2 seconds of burning (overlap) the Incendiary Arrows build is preferable, for average damage per monster (ADM), against groups smaller than 4 and larger than 8. However, considering that in normal PvE you'll only run into groups of 2-3 clumped together or, if you're farming, groups of 10+, this can be quite beneficial. Using consumables to get Channeling to 17, they deal equal ADM against groups of 12, with incendiary more effective thereafter.
I am not sure how attack speed would affect this, but it could be substantial.

This is how far i have gotten with this idea lol. Basically i was thinking that if while u hold the ashes u have protection/reduction on physical damage so all u need now is elemental reduction/protection so i thought this would be a good combination of skills but for... this is were i blank its not enough to tank and too much for just regular battle.
